Why I Started Mike Mudd Management, a Tampa Bay General Contractor Built on Trust

I started Mike Mudd Management, a Tampa Bay general contractor, because I wanted to build something local homeowners could actually trust — a company that shows up when it says it will, gives you a straight answer instead of a sales pitch, and stands behind the work long after the check clears.

That sounds simple. In this industry, it isn't always the norm. I've heard the same frustrations from homeowners over and over: contractors who disappear mid-project, estimates that balloon without warning, work that looks fine until the first real storm tests it. I built this company to be the opposite of that experience.

We're licensed general contractors (CGC1540668), and we take that license seriously — not as a formality, but as a standard we hold every job to, whether it's a full kitchen remodel in Hyde Park, a bathroom update in St. Petersburg, or getting a family's home back together after storm damage. The work is different every time. The standard isn't.

What we actually do covers a lot of ground: kitchen and bathroom remodeling, whole-home renovations and additions, storm and flood damage restoration, handyman repairs, drywall and painting, landscaping, and junk removal, for homeowners and investors across Tampa Bay — Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Sarasota, Manatee, Hernando, and Citrus counties. South Tampa is where we got our start and where we still do some of our favorite work, but wherever the job is, it gets the same attention.

If there's one thing I want people to take away from working with us, it's this: we treat every job like it's our own home. Not as a tagline — it's genuinely how we make decisions on site, from the materials we recommend to how we handle something that doesn't go according to plan. Renovations are stressful enough without wondering whether the person doing the work actually cares whether it's done right.
